North Cyprus season by season: what to do and when

20 October 2026

North Cyprus enjoys sunshine for most of the year, so the events calendar hardly ever stops. Still, each season has its own character. Here is a short guide to help you plan.

Spring (March – May)

The island turns green and the countryside is in bloom. It is the best time for hiking and nature tours: the trails of the Kyrenia (Beşparmak) Mountains and the castles of St. Hilarion and Buffavento are far more enjoyable in cool weather. Spring is also when flower and local produce festivals and open-air exhibitions begin.

Summer (June – August)

Days are hot and evenings are long. Life comes alive after sunset: harbour concerts, beach parties, open-air cinema and performances in ancient theatres are summer classics. Daytime is ideal for boat trips and the sea — bring a hat and plenty of water.

Autumn (September – November)

The sea is still warm and the air softens. Harvest season brings olive, halloumi and wine festivals, tasting nights and cooking workshops. Culture centres and theatres open their new seasons.

Winter (December – February)

Winters are mild. Indoor events such as theatre, stand-up comedy, classical music and jazz nights take centre stage. It is also a busy time for conferences, exhibitions and workshops. On rainy days, museums and cinemas make a good escape.
