Cinema in North Cyprus: theatres, open-air screenings and tips

Multiplex cinemas in Nicosia and Kyrenia show the latest releases, and in summer, open-air screenings join the calendar.

Dubbed, subtitled or original

Many films are shown in both Turkish-dubbed and subtitled sessions. The showtimes list on each film page shows the language of every session; if you are going with children, dubbed sessions may suit you better.

Pick your seat

In theatres with numbered seating, you choose your seat when buying. Facing the centre of the screen, slightly behind the middle rows, usually gives the best balance of view and sound.

Open-air cinema

Watching a film under the stars on a summer night is one of the island's most enjoyable experiences. Screenings start after dark, so bring a light layer.

Each film's age rating is shown on its page. Keep in mind that ages may be checked at the entrance.
